I think now no one will said they don't do goodyear welted shoe in HK, enjoy.
The shoe still very diffcult to cut up. It is after more than eleven years of service.
I commissioned it around HKD1,200, IIRC at Kow Hoo, Fleet Arcade shop.

I am learning shoemaking, the shoe upper and lining are starting to wear off, so I think it is good to cut it up to learn how it is make up.
Also to prove that someone said no company doing goodyear welted shoe in Hong kong is wrong.

Interesting.

What's the material found in the sole (of the foot) area? Northampton makers use a cork resin in that area.

Sorry to disappoint you: goodyear, but not handmade.

How can you tell? Are the stitches too exactly spaced or something?

FB 11 years ago when you first got this shoe it was still possible to get GY welted shoes. but i now, i still would think that it is not possile to get a true GY welted shoe even to Churches standard as there will be no cork or felt etc inbetween just a peice of leather as i have shoe made in HK like this

hhmmm i might cut mine up too!

I will take a pic of the upper later, so you may have an idea how it was.
Actually, the sole is still fine and in good condition.
