If there is one area I have problems with when it comes to denim, its gotta be fit. Unfortunately, it just happens to be the most important. So help a man out. What characteristics do you think are necessary for a good fit?

Obviously it will depend on body type, whether you prefer slim or baggy, among other things. It can't all be "just wear what you like" though. I'm sure we've all seen things that just make us think "goddamn, that's terrible."

Any tips?

I think seats that look dumpy are bad. #1 most required thing for me would be a fitted seat.

Things that work for me are lowered back pockets and lower back rise, tight thighs and seat.

That's true, regarding the dumpy seat. I find that with a few pairs of jeans I've tried, what would be perfect in that area (Rag & Bone comes to mind) is ruined by a slightly short inseam. It causes me to wait the jeans lower and in turn makes the ass look like... ass.

I think this is a very personal thing. What I consider a "good fit" might be totally awful (or 100000% GAY) on someone else. And what I might consider an awful fit on someone else might be perfectly comfortable and acceptable to them.

I dislike fitted seats. I like diaper-assed anti-fit jeans. The dumpier the better. Jeans that have fitted seats make me feel like a freak----like a superfreak, actually. Like a hustler. I hate feeling like I'm on the prowl. Slinking around and the like.

I'm still undecided about what I prefer in denim fits. Each pair I have is different and I can't say I am or have been wild about any of them, really.

I with DDML, although I don't particularly want a daiper ass either, just enough slouchiness there to make the jeans seem just slightly saggy. I do not want tight ass jeans (although I don't mind tight legs, taper, etc...) I wear my APC NS sort of like the Julian Red California. I actually like them more than the JR California, because they were not made with the antifit in mind (although the designer had in mind that they could be worn that way - love Jean Touitou). I like a slightly dropped crotch too, like that on Rag & Bone jeans.

I like them very fitted in the waist, somewhat fitted in the seat and a nice shape to the leg. I don't like my jeans painted on, nor do I like them baggy and shapeless (the carpenter jeans that were popular when I was in high school come to mind). There is one thing that I hate more than anything, though, and that is a waist that is enough too big that it causes serious buckling at the fly, making it look like I've got constant wood (and not very impressive wood, at that).

Maybe you can fill in the space with some indigo socks.

I like a nice semi-fitted seat, but I can also dig on some anti-fit ass. Too tight and I am uncomfortable (or gay). I like the the thigh area to be snug, maybe a half inch of movement around the thighs. I don't like tapered jeans though. I don't however like the baggy as hell feel. I buy heavy denim so I can feel it... not swim in it. I do think it looks cool on Jay Z and the rest of the hustlers, though.

I don't even need to bother writing my opinion, I can just quote yours. how convenient! If only I could find jeans that fit me this way...

LOL, you remind me of a time last year when I was hanging out with friends drinking, and for shits and giggles, I came out of the bathroom with a bag of cotton balls stuffed in the front of my pants. I took it out, we had a good laugh, and went out, and as I'm at the party hitting on this girl, three cotton balls fall out the bottom of my pants leg. I went home alone.
