+100. I know plenty of boxers, kickboxers, MMA fighters, and other martial arts practitioners. Not one of them, to my knowledge, has ever had to register their hands (elbows, knees, shins, feet, foreheads?) as dangerous weapons. Actually, I am about 99.99% sure that all of them would be laughed out of the registry offices if they tried.
You are correct. The 'hands as registered weapons' rap is in fact a myth.
The only thing that ive heard is a professional boxer was charged with 'aggravated assault' instead of just 'assault' after beating a kid into hospitalization with his fists. 'aggravated assault' is usually given to people who maybe kick someone with steel-toed boots, or use brass knuckles (not deadly weapons perse, but not regular assault either)...and the victim probably had a kick-ass lawyer to get that conviction.
