How does AS compare with C&J? Better quality or on par? How about Carmina?
This very discussion is ongoing on the C&J thread. http://www.styleforum.net/t/227575/quintessential-crockett-jones-thread/2520
Does anyone knows what is the order count for the BLAKE MTO so far?? It seems that this one is stuck for the moment.
We are currently at 4 pairs, we will leave this open for another week or so and see if we can reach the 6 we ideally need.
A few words about J & FJ BAKER & CO LTD Oak Tanned soles
Just ending 22 weeks on the Miller MTO.
I understand MTO takes time but....
How much time is really involved, start to finish, in making up a pair of shoes? I should think it is a matter of weeks, not months.
It seems what makers are happy to do is to take orders and then stack up the production schedule months out. At some point, you would think that they would have to expand production capacity or stop taking orders until the backlog starts to go down.
I know that shoes sit on lasts for roughly 21 days. I can't account for the rest of 19 weeks as well.
would hope we could get comped for boot trees for the long wait
Well.........have you any idea how long it takes to raise a calf.................tan a hide...........................train a shoemaker's apprentice...............................
Many apologies for the long wait - I am sure it will be worth it. The main delay here was right at the start with a shortage of Horween Cognac shell in the UK - unfortunately this took almost 3 months to come in stock from time of ordering. The Miller boots are now in the final stages of making and I have been assured they will be lovingly completed within the month. Thank you for your patience.
How about the Ramsey MTO?
Almost there... hopefully we will be contacting you all next week to arrange delivery for the AS Ramsey in Whiskey Shell mto!!
My mistake I guess.....I never realized calves were born on demand so to speak....I wonder if this method runs throughout the economy....when I order an MTO suit, they get those lambs born and raised fast, the wool sheared, washed, and spun, the fabric woven....there must be some serious efficiencies there!
But seriously, I still wonder how long it takes to make the pair of shoes. And in the MTO industry there has to be a point at which the turn around time becomes a self defeating and unworkable business model.
And to complete the trifecta, any status update on our Benson MTO?
