Didn't even realize the change in shipping, now I have to add $40 for import duties, damn.

Is there a reason you don't use Parcel Force?

I personally would much rather deal with postal service and have a slim to no chance of having to pay customs/duty versus FedEx where you're almost certain to be assessed
customs/duty and also have to pay $25-30 in brokerage fees.

DHL has a more reasonable $6.50 advancement fee but they also fk things up.
I just got a bill for $178 because they categorized a pair of Tricker's I received as women's textile shoes.

That's strange, I just had another vendor ship AS Moore in Cherry UK9, Lasted Trees, 4 tins of polish, suede cleaner and a horsehair bush via Royal Mail/Parcel Force. My last shipment from Edward Green was 2 pair of shoes and trees, also Royal Mail. Wonder how they manage it.

Parcel Force is by far the most expensive courier on the planet!!!

Also, the whole reason why Royal Mail has a 2kg weight limit is to 'encourage' you to use Parcel Force, I wouldn't give them the pleasure.

The problem isn't of Royal Mail itself, every national post have this limit for their standard or registered mail services.
Even in Italy the limit is 2kg to ship abroad with Registered Mail (equivalent to RM Int. Signed For service/Recorded Mail), and the dimensional limit is a total of 90cm, every country have the same limit as far as I know, being these cooperative services.

By the way, where is the problem to pay import duties when you have the VAT deducted?

Can anyone comment on the width difference between 87, 724, and 109 last? I would like to get an idea which one is the widest and which is the narrowest.

I'm interested in the Pimlico, Bexhill, and Moore. As usual, width will be my biggest concern...

    Jubei,

I feel you pain, I discovered that TG73 and DG70 last do not fit me I either need F fit or go up half a size but, Barneys stock has been cleaned up pretty much.

AS for 87 vs 109, I had both and 87 is definitely wider. I think 87 is a "country" last used for country shoes and boots so it is assumed you would be wearing these shoes with thicker socks.

I cannot comment on 724 yet.

Yeah, that package must not have been weighed. Royal Mail (RM) will only take up to 2kg. Anything more would have to be Parcel Force or another company. I have been purchasing shoes for years from the UK and this has been my experience. If you go to the RM website it outlines their shipping policies.

As I wrote, Royal Mail/Parcel Force... so yes ParcelForce. I much prefer it as the shipment typically gets to me 2-4 days sooner than UPS or DHL, FedEx is about the same time as RM/P. I prefer to pay slightly more upfront for ParcelForce and not get hit with a bill for twice as much in "brokerage fees" a month or two later. With all of them, customs and duties in the US may or may not be assessed, and that is not an issue. Speed and quality of service are. At least in my experience, RM/ParcelForce have proven time and again to be better at both. I will not order from any merchant who forces me to utilize FedEx, they are the only service that has managed to lose, not just the original shipment, but both of the replacements as well.

We can use Parcelforce if you would prefer, but there may be a small extra charge.
