A few questions about this Brioni suit.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws....MEWA:IT Is a double-breasted suit appropriate for a shorter man? I'm about 5' 7 1/2", slim to medium build and I've always been under the impression that a DB suit would lessen one's verticality. I am looking now to see what Flusser says in Style & the Man... (for short, slim men): "Double-breasted coats should have a long roll and button below the natural waist"; "Peaked lapels offer more height". What types of occasions would be appropriate for this suit; would it work for a summer, semi-formal wedding, for example? I'm assuming for evening formal and funerals, it's out. Â [IMG]

I think you'll find that Flusser makes note of the Brazilian (and other) diplomats, who wear well-cut double breasted suits (I think the example mentioned guys 5'5 and under.). Myself, I really like Brioni's double breasted suits, and they are almost always 6-on-2 button stance with double vents. Classic cool.

I was always under the impression that shorter men shouldn't wear double breasted suits because it made them look like a big rectangle.

At any rate, I'm not a big fan of the suit...those lapels are too wide for my tastes.

I'm 1/2" taller than you and like wearing double-breasted, unless it's a boxy cut. And I wear 1 5/8" cuffs on these suits, which is against some other rule. The suit cut appears to be very classic and would be fine, IMO, for daytime weddings. I'd wear to the office too.

Ha ha, touchÃ[IMG]. I prefer to think of his look as historically appropriate.
