Hey guys,

ok I've got an inaugural ball to go to and I'm just getting all the stuff ready for my first black-tie escapade...anyway a couple of questions, if anyone's in DC and knows:

1) Does anyone have a recommendation for a good shoe shine place? I'm going to just be wearing park aves (coz that's all I can haz right now), and I want to get them as shiny as possible.

2) I just got an email saying the buttons I ordered for my jacket are backordered so I had to cancel the order. Does anyone know of a place I can go to in DC that sells silk faced buttons?

thanks

There used to be a guy in the National Press Club building that does a killer shine. Then there are the guys in this food court at like 19th & L (or something, sorry, wish I could remember exactly) who do good work but charge like $10.

I believe you're thinking of the International Square Food Court. One entrance at the Farragut West metrorail stop (18th Street), another entrance at 19th and K. From what I remember, they do good work.

+1 Very good shine. I have no idea about the buttons though. Maybe London Tailors in Bethesda? I think any alterations tailor would probably have what you need and would attach the buttons too for small money.
