I like how the article mentions RSS ordering ten suits right off the bat. *

'Then it got a bit better, and people came in and ordered three suits at a time. They'd say, "Life is short; I'll have three cashmere jackets."'

RSS makes an appearance later on, too, though the cashmere bit was added just to throw us off.

We also should keep in mind that RSS is personally responsible for maintaining this...

...on the Row. Therefore, for every ten RA suits, there must be ten A&S suits to maintain harmony.

It's simply the right thing to do, just like aportnoy successfully acquiring every shoe made.

That is called the conservation of structure principle: for every soft suit made, there is a structured one made, as equally structured as the other is soft. Without it, the universe as we know it would end.

Exactly. For every pair of office pants, leisure pants. For every pocket square, a sock.

And so on.

For the record ... my first RA order was one suit ... and one odd coat made from the house tweed.

I took a guess about the ten suits and made a phone call ... he remembers 8 ... but I would almost bet that he is the person Richard was referencing.

Eight, Ten, Fifty ... same thing.

I am very pro Richard Anderson but shock horror. Is that a gap I see between vest and trousers?!

Surely it just looks like that on my iPhone screen?

RA is my favourate Savile Row tailor. His windows always impressed me my collegues and freinds from other firms on the row.....always a talking point in the masons arms after work.

May well be. The times I've been around Richard, he's always well dressed ... but I don't get the feeling he is fastidious or fussy about his personal appearance. Upon entering the shop he'll drop what he's doing to come over and say hello. And no ... he doesn't stop to ensure his vest is correctly pulled down ... or to see if he's showing the right amount of cuff. He lives in his clothing ... and who knows what he was doing just prior to that picture being snapped.

And lets face it ... Richard likely hasn't the experience of making all those little last minute adjustments needed to ensure all is perfect prior to snapping the pic for his next entry in the What Are You Wearing Right This Very Minute thread.

It's much more likely the writer who fails to mention Brian.

Richard may have his name on the door ... but Brian is equally critical to the firm.

I am honored to include Brian among my good friends. And he is indeed an eminent figure on the Row. He knows it as few others do.
