Hi, all. I may not be posting this thread in the right area. If not, I kindly ask that the moderators move it (Since the most knowledgeable folks will most likely be found in the correct forum.).

Anyway, I have a number of question regarding waist-coats/vest (As they pertain to Black Tie and suits.).

1. Is it more formal/traditional for a Black Tie waist-coat to have a back made out of matching lining, or matching fabric? How about for suit vests?

2. Is it more formal/traditional for a Black Tie waist-coat to have a an adjuster on the back, or not? How about for suit vests?

3. Is it more formal/traditional for a Black Tie waist-coat to have lapels or not? How about for suit vests?

4. Do White Tie, morning coat, and stroller waist-coats have any special rules, or are they more-or-less the same as Black Tie waist-coats and suit vest (In regards to the three questions above.)?

Thank you, in advance, for your answers.

1. Black tie vest can have no back or a back made from black bomber. I have not encountered one with self-fabric.

2. Adjusters made no difference.

3. Black tie waistcoats can have lapels. As with a regular suit it's entirely up to you.

4. White tie waistcoats are always white marcella and typically have lapels. Morning coat and stroller waistcoats can be grey, buff, light blue, and perhaps other colors. I'm pretty sure lapels are optional.
