96 rue de ???

I stopped by Loehmann's today and saw some interesting cashmere sweaters from "96 rue de something." I forget what the full name was. Anyway, they were around $120 and seemed pretty nice, much better than the usual discount store cashmere. A few had euro prices written on the tags - I think they were E260.

Does anyone know about this brand?

The brand you're inquiring about is 97 Rue des Mimosas, I believe. They are a top notch producer. They were founded by a former co-owner of Malo. I have several of their sweaters, many of which I got at Loehmann's, and they are outstanding quality. Here's a blurb from Ian of the World'sFinest:

"When the clothing company "Malo" was sold one of the former owners started "Rue des Mimosas". This new label continues the tradition of producing high quality clothing."

Thanks, guys! Yes, that is exactly it. I knew it was a word that I recognized. Anyway, heads up to all you NYCers. They are very nice. I'm going to run back and pick up a half zip in light grey, and maybe a v-neck. They had a few bright/unusual colors, but a lot of it was nice and standard.

Named for an address Magritte lived at; a favorite of Tyler Brule; I thought Malo still had an interest in it and drove it as their trendy line. QUite expensive.

They do specialize in brighter colors.

I'll have to swing by myself next week. Don't clean them out.

They had half zip mock necks in light grey, medium grey, green, lavender, and blue. Button up mock necks in many of the same colors. They also have a few odds and ends on a rack in the back. Mostly sizes 50-54, but a few 48. Be sure to try them on if you go, as sizing seemed to be all over the place. I ended up getting a thick cashmere four button mock neck in cream. Easily a $500 sweater for $120.
