80s Issey Miyake suit: "bold" vs "doesn't fit"

Hello, seeking feedback. I was looking for something a bit eye-catching and ordered this Issey Miyake suit from the 80s since the price was right. Maybe I bit off more than I can chew? It was simply listed as an "M" size, with 48cm shoulders. I have 43cm shoulders myself and usually wear an IT 46/US 36. It's objectively oversized, but how much of that is on purpose? If I were to reduce the shoulder sizes, even slightly, would it defeat the whole point of the fit?

I'm 180cm/65kg for reference. I also have a pretty small head that I don't feel like sharing in my first post. Worried I'll look like that guy from Beetlejuice.
