80 degrees too hot for a lightweight gray wool suit?

A dark dress shirt and dark trousers, collar unbuttoned and sleeves rolled up, is a good hot weather business casual look that comes off very sharp looking in my opinion, if you want a monochromatic, slimming alternative to a suit. Avoid all black though since it can look like a waiter or eastern european assassin.

Well, the eastern European assassin look sounds interesting. ;)

Given the fact that it's an upscale restaurant, she is a sharp dresser herself, and you're old enough to have the sense to know what's appropriate, I'd say go for it. If the heat won't bother you, it shouldn't bother anyone else.

I do keep changing my mind, here, don't I?
Anyway, if you want to wear the suit, nothing else matters. Wear the suit.

An alternative, becuase it is lunch, might be a blue blazer or sportcoat with a dress shirt and tie.
