$55 to burn at Nordstrom: What to buy?

Hello all,

My employer gave me a $55 t-shirt from Nordstrom. It is just a plain black (mercerized) cotton shirt, and it is huge and the fabric is somewhat unflattering (it is heavy and hangs to much). I want to exchange it for something else, and keep it very close to $55 as I don't have much extra cash at the moment.

Any suggestions?

It's been a really long time since I've walked through Nordstrom and found a single thing that I would actually wear so that's a tough call for me. I would probably just get some socks or something.

That's a tough question. I always find that having $50 or so to spend at a high end dept. store is almost worse than having nothing to spend. There are so few good things to be had anyway, much less at around that price point, that I always end up spending a lot more on something that I really don't want, but buy anyway because I don't want to waste the store credit.

So, I agree with the recommendation to get the card that can be used at Nordstrom rack. For $55, if you look carefully, you can get a few items.

Thw couple of things I saw were sperry topsiders boat shoes for $54.95 or Converse All-Stars for $35, I think I might just get a pair of all-stars. Maybe I will go to Nordstrom Rack, there is one right around here somewhere.

I agree, there is basically nothing at nordstroms that I like except for Frye boots, which they charge an arm and a leg for.

the nordstroms near me both suck, so I would probably buy a perfume for my lady friend, or something.. socks, maybe, a tie, maybe if they have something ridiculous like a hat with a pom-pom on the top i'd be tmpted

Alright, I went to Nordstroms today. I ended up opting for the cash, they didn't have anything I was excited about at all.
