If this has been done on SF already, then my apologies and please refer me to that link.
If not, then it would be interesting to see responses.
Here are guidlines I would like to recommend.
    1) List 5 new films you would like to see made. Give a working title and a brief synopsis of the yet to be made film.
    2) To avoid repeats or to show support of anothers idea(s) simply use the 'Thumbs Up' icon below their post(s)
    3) Please, no remakes. Humanity is tired of them already.
    4) The ideas can be your own or inspired by any book, etc.
Disclaimer- I do not work in the film industry and have no personal interest in your ideas.

This idea just came to my mind so I have to come up with my own list but will do so as soon as I have ideas.
Please share your ideas and turn this into a future MegaThread.

Inspiration comes from Pieter Hugo's pictorial of Nigeria's Hyena Men. I'd like to see a movie of Hyena Men v Armed Albinos. Or Hyena Men v missionaries. Or Hyena Men v Lebanese conflict diamond traders.

I don't have any others yet. Of course a movie about Triads in Hong Kong's infamous (and long gone) Walled City would be interesting. Perhaps it's already been made by a HK producer.

A movie of F. Sionil Jose's book Gagamba would be good too.
The cripple Gagamba sells sweepstakes tickets at the entrance to the Ermita (Manila) restaurant called Camarin. The eating-place became well-known because it was frequented by the so-called “beautiful people” that Gagamba sees daily. The “beautiful people” includes the “big men” who are politicians, journalists, generals, landlords, and “handsome call-girls”. During the July 1990 earthquake, all the dining “beautiful people” at the Camarin were killed and entombed. The only survivors from the Camarin were Gagamba and two other persons.

Interesting Curzon. Looks like I have some reading to do. :)

ok, I came up with 5 ideas. Hopefully something original....here goes....

    Silent Hunters (Drama)
    Synopsis
A geographically scattered but unified hacker terrorist group jointly cracks into Russian and US Defense systems and sattelites and send simultaneous launch codes to both countries' patrolling nuclear submarines.
Sort of a WarGames meets Dr. Strangelove meets Das Boat meets Crimson Tide drama. No gags and some of the mssles will launch.
Tagline: 'The most terrifying threat to humanity comes from under the seas'
    Projected Budget: $150 million
Cast: NO big names. Equally important and properly developed parts for men and women of all ages.

    Also Known As (Drama-Thriller-SciFi)
    Synopsis:
Future world crime drama where a serial killer illegally uses some future life extension contraption to change bodies as well as identities as he (she) is hunted.
Possible plot twist- Will the pursuers also use this method to catch him?
Tagline: 'A body count you would never expect'

    Projected Budget: $30 Million
Cast: One 'star' as the killer and an unknown as the pursuer.

Life After Death After Life (Comedy-Romance-Drama)
    Synopsis:
7 people have their bodies (or heads) frozen at the moment of their deaths, hoping to be brought back to life when future technology allows.
When the time comes, they are brought back. 7 different outcomes ranging from horror to comedy to bliss.
Tagline: 'Jennifer is a very sexy babe for 150 years of age'
    Cast: International
    Projected Budget: $ 70 Million
    Cast: doesn't matter

A State Of Minds and Bodies (Comedy-Romance-Drama-SciFi)
    Synopsis:
At the age of 35, it is law that one must have gender re-assignment procedures to live out the rest of their lives as the opposite sex.
Multiple characters with multiple outcomes and adventures.
Tagline: 'A nightmare to some, a comedy to others, and a dream come true for the rest!'
Would also make a good series for TV.

    Budget: $60 Million - $120 Million
Cast: All unknowns or an All Star cast, as you like.

The Magic Mirror (Fantasy,Drama, possibly Romance too)
    Synopsis:
A man or woman buys an old mirror in an antique store and soon discovers it is a portal to other times and places that the mirror existed or will exist in. Getting back however, will prove harder, if at all possible than they think. (possibly meeting others who are also trapped in the mirror worlds)

Tagline: 'Have you ever wondered what is on the other side?'

    Projected Budget: $30 Million
Cast: equal female & male roles. Use unknowns to enhance suspense.

The full-length All the Pretty Horses - against the director's (and actors') wishes, they cut out a ton of scenes, which made it really choppy, trite, and shitty. They can't release the director's cut because of a copyright issue with the score.
The other two books in the Border Trilogy
    The Shipwreck of the Medusa
A Jack Reacher film with someone over six feet tall playing Jack Reacher.

An utopia future where Canada becomes the dominant country in the world. Climate change has turned the US into a barren waste in parts, flooded martial zones unsafe for man or animal in others. Canadian World Domination has been successfully executed and Canada has created an Empire much like the British one it replaced. The US is tightly under Canadian military control and the border between the two countries is a continuous "virtual" wall to keep Americans from illegally crossing from their wasteland into the Shangri La that is now Canada. The movie follows two brothers that journey through highly dangerous portions of the US, bravely cross a nearly impenetrable border zone, and illegally enter Canada in search of work. They eventually gain not only legal status but start (large) families and build a successful landscaping company starting out with just an old Ford Ranger, a wheel barrow and two shovels.

Tagline: They can just stay where they belong.

    Budget: $150 million.
Cinematography: full of sweeping dystopia settings in the US and beautiful, serene settings in Canada.

    Cast:

Two brothers: Mark Wahlberg and Brad Pitt
    Nasty Border Guard: Clancy Brown
    Warlord of Detroit: Ving Rhames
Border Activist Canadian Woman that aides the brothers: Alanis Morrisette
    Wife 1: Celine Dion
    Wife 2: Anne Hathaway
    Officious Government Official: William Shatner

    TYRANT (Nature film)
    Synopsis
65 million years ago a Tyrannosaurus Rex is born. The film unfolds with no narration and minimal background music as we follow this monster through it's life cycle. Eating, fucking, and being a complete bad ass. If you remember that '80s French film The Bear, it would be kind of like that. Climax would be a vicious fight with a Triceratops.
Tagline "The lucky ones get eaten."
    Projected Budget: $1 Billion.
Cast: None. Filmed on location with a mix of practical effects and photo-realistic CGI.

    Tiger! Tiger! (Science Fiction)
    Synopsis
Based on the amazing sci-fi novel by Alfred Brester. It's easily one of the top five science fiction stories ever. The Demolished Man would also make an incredible film.
Tagline "Gully Foyle is my name
    And Terra is my nation
Deep space is my dwelling place
    The stars my destination"
    Projected Budget $300 million
Cast: Guy Pearce as Gully Foyle. Kris Kristoferson as Presteign.

There might be someone on this very board who would play a convincing honey badger.

Probaire, I'll buy a ticket if you use the tagline: 'armed with only duct tape, 3 old leaky submarines, 300,000 snow blowers and a garden hose, it's Canada's turn to rule!' Also, please bump Shatner up to Prime Minister and use Donald Sutherland as the Officious Government Official.

The Madman's Tale by John Katzenbach.

Francis Petrel, recently released from an asylum faces his own inner demons as he recounts his memories of a murderer in the asylum during his time there. The story tells itself in two parallel parts: one of the stories is during his time in the asylum, all a memory slowly bringing itself back to life; the other story takes place after he is released, and he feels compelled to author a book on the events surrounding that murder. He has no paper, so he writes his story on the wall and is constantly challenged with tedious interruptions. At the same time, he forgoes his medication, and the tension of continuing with his work becomes threatened by his struggle with his own madness.

Sutherland. Great call. He'd better as PM though, don't you think?

Shatner plays the Prime Minister. Sutherland plays his brain. Sutherland has that dark and knowing undertone quality to him. You know, like Karl Rove to George Bush Jr. ;)

And speaking of Bush.....not my idea but brilliant.....

I was going to add a movie about Horace Greasley, but I've also read a few days back that they are finally going to do one.
