37R suits?

A few months ago, I brought a couple new suits to a local tailor for standard tailoring things. He told me I should consider 37R (my suits are 38Rs). I didn't think much of it since I had never seen 37R suits. This past weekend, I was at Brooks Brothers and they happened to have a couple of jackets in 37R. I tried one on and it fit perfectly, especially the shoulders area.

Do all RTW brands make 37Rs? I've seen 39s before (rarely), but I'd never seen 37s.

My size, 38R, is hard enough to find, but 37Rs are even more elusive. But if you're having trouble, you do have options. One of our members specializes in smaller-sized suits:

Another offers slim, affordable MTM:

You could also try looking for larger sizes that run small. Ralph Lauren, in particular, likes to make stuff so slim-fitting you need to size up. Some of the Polo models and Black Label are options.

I don't think I have ever seen a 37 except at Brooks Bros.

It would be easier to find a slightly large-fitting 36 or a small-fitting 38. This is what I do.

My local Brooks carries 36, 37, 38, but I agree they fit very large. I would only consider 36 in BB, and I still think it either looks too large or I don't like it for other reasons.

I have a Boss (don't shoot me) and two Zegnas in 38R. They all fit just fine. The shoulders on these extend only slightly past my shoulders. 36s are too small for me so I always thought 38s are what I need.

I have a hard time finding 38's as well. I guess trying to find 37's is just hoping for too much. I guess I'll try to look for small 38's instead.

Before SF, I was blissfully unaware and was perfectly fine with 40R's (both ignorant of fit and weighed 30+ lbs more). It's a little insane how the difference between 37's and 38's is bothering me right now.

I was at the multistory BB store in Americana Manhasset a few weeks ago where they had a whopping 5 38R suits.

Good luck.

As much as i do not like Coppley,
I do believe they offer a 37 r or s.
And they have that hideous on line MTM program where you can order MTM yourself via the web and I seem to recall a sales rep saying that 37 was available that route also.

Worth a glance perhaps.
