Darlton bluchers (black) should go down to around $200. Not bad.

And yet, still not that much better of a shoe than an equivalent AE - the harrison.... which can frequently be had for $120-$160 from Ebay and $160 from STP.

Now, if the shell cordovans or Mackays were available for the double dip, that would be another matter.

    Love your avatar. Jon.
King Babar of the Elephants. He was a well-dressed pachyderm.

I think the jacket might be a little short for him. Is it Thom Browne?

They look more like white bucks. With a green suit? Very Boateng. AND he's got a walking stick. That's one pimped Pachyderm.

I'm not sure if Thom Browne does three-pieces in green though. If I recall Babar had his suits tailored in France with the Old Lady? [IMG] Peak lapels. [IMG] Double-breasted.

I remember being in my parent's room in Canada, sitting on the light gray carpet watching Babar on TV (HBO). Man, that takes me back...

Here is a direct quote from the first Babar book:

'Babar then buys himself: A shirt with a collar and tie, a suit of a becoming shade of green, then a handsome derby hat, and also shoes with spats'

Wow, I didn't know Babar was known in the US (my ignorance) it warms my heart.

I am a bit surprised (though we are not on AAAC) that no one mentioned Arthur who is probably the most trad in the family with his sailor outfit [IMG]
