3/2 Button Sportscoat

Gentlemen,

Being a newbie, I'd like to solicit your advice on the 3/2 button Sportscoats. I'm looking at buying some BOGLIOLI jackets and I'm learning about these three button jackets which are supposed to wear as two button jackets.

Aesthetically speaking, I'm wondering what is the point of these 3/2 button jackets? What are the advantages of these new jackets? And why do these Italian brands love these 3/2 button Sportscoats?

Any help would be highly appreciated!

My two roll three Brooks Brothers sport jacket can be buttoned on the third button when it's chilly. Other than that, I know of no value.

A 3 to 2 roll generally gives you a higher roll of the lapel where a 2 button the lapel tends to roll further down and often almost pressed flat so that there is very little roll. I'm tall and have a long torso, so I find a 3-2 works best for me. But I also see a lot of guys of average height or less who like a 3-2 and look great.

Consider it an option. Get what you prefer.
