I'm studying Business IT at University for a 4 year BSc(Hons) degree.

Currently in my 3rd year (1 year industry placement). I've achieved one of the 'better' placements within my area of study.

This is within a manufacturing corporation as a 'Systems Analyst and Project Leader' role. After 6 months in industry I've learnt so much about the rewarding and frustrating areas of businesses.

Rewarding:
Project deliverables exceeding expectations
Representing my department leading to a formal department praise

Frustrating:
1. Managing conflicting priorities
2. People handing over work *No formal documentation to say whom this process belongs to/ people not wanting to do the work* - leading to #1
3. People leading for the sake of leading in project initiatives
4. Individuals raising problems to hierarchy without consulting on a one to one basis first.

What i'm looking to achieve from this post:

What does the hierarchy want to see from a placement student?
Does anyone have any similar experiences within placement years or similar?
What knowledge should I be gaining within this field? I.e literature, roles to experience p/t while at University.
What to do after University? Graduate roles etc.

Thank you in advance for any replies. I am writing this due to interest in other peoples opinions and experiences as well as hoping to help any other individuals with similar interests/issues.
