Ramirez? Nah. Not unless he's bundled in with Grienke, but I seriously doubt that would happen. No, I think they'll either live with Chavez or try and snag Headley from the Padres.

Grienke to the Halo's. Nice pickup by them. I think the Rangers are going to have to bend over and take it up the ass to get Josh Johnson now, if they want to compete that is.

the rangers are like 5 games up in their division though. maybe they trade for cliff lee instead. it'll be cheaper (personnel wise) to get lee. roll the dice with lee instead of going all in with JJ - who hasn't really felt the power of dealing with AL batting line ups full time.

He'll pitch great if they ever play an interleague game in Milwaukee.

With this trade, I'm starting to worry that my Brewers might not repeat as Central Division champions.

Busy busy day today. Giants get Pence. Dodgers get Victorino. Rangers get Dempster. Reds get Broxton.

I suspect that Soriano, Garza, and Marmol will get dealt around the waiver wire deadline. Possibly Lee and a few other big names.

I'm a little surprised at Dempster going to the Rangers. Not surprised that they'd want him of course, but I thought he'd end up with the Dodgers.

I think that was a horrible move for the Rangers. He's going to get lit up by the AL hitting.

He might indeed, but I am a bit more optimistic, Dempster is very deceptive, with that little glove wave, and he has really good command and control. He's got a K/BB rate north of 3:1, which is damn good. Even if that regresses to 2:1, it is good. And the Rangers have a deep, stocked system, and kept all their blue chip prospects. Dempster only cost them a couple of B-list prospects.

the NESN clubhouse reporter has the scoop. Beckett has a strained back from slipping on fried chicken grease drippings on the floor in the clubhouse before the game. He decided to brave it out but strained it and couldn't continue in the 3rd inning. He may not pitch again tonight, but he'll definitely finish off that bucket of fried chicken.

Tigers sweep the Indians, today, in 10 innings. One of the whackiest games ever. And now, the "Damn Yankees" come to town. Still 1.5 games out of first. Dang! Those White Sox just keep winning.

Including 3 strikeouts from Ichiro. When's the last time he struck out three times to the same pitcher?
