Much needed Detroit Tigers win. Lots of small things contributed to the win. This is the quality of baseball execution we all hoped for back in April. Hope the momentum continues this weekend as the Yankees come to town. Good news: Avila did not suffer a concussion.

Tigers lose 9-4. Damn Yankees!
The damage was done by the 5 runs given up by the rookie pitcher, Crawford. Poor kid!

Quintin Berry is exciting. We must keep him.

bases loaded for yankees: grand slam
bases loaded for tigers: strike out to end the inning.

by the way. why the hell did we start Casey Crosby. friday night, at home, against the yankees. couldn't Leyland have picked a 1pm afternoon game at Oakland or some ****.

thinking about it, maybe it was to give everyone their regular rest since we had a 4 game series.

Listening to Joe Buck droning on and on, unceasingly, on "Baseball in America", Tigers/Yankees, is numbing my mind. I want Mario and Rod back. (Our regular, local announcers.)

This was a terrible thing to do to Crawford. Poor kid. His self esteem will be shattered for a month.

Drama in Deeeeeetroit! On so many levels, last night's Tigers-Yankees game was a heart stopper. When Valverde pitches, my wife has to leave the room. (I wonder if he is still hurt?) And like a movie script, the lowly Santos saves the day. (I was one of those who screamed when he was brought up.)

With JV on the mound, this afternoon, a win is expected.

I'm looking forward to being in the ballpark this week for one of the Indians games. Next week, I am going to Wrigley Field to attend the Wednesday Tigers/Cubs games.

Pregame tribute to retiring player, Magglio Ordonez, was very moving. Maggs was all dressed up in a sharp suit and tie--hardly recognized him. My, he dresses up nice. Well deserved accolades. Now....let's beat those Yanks. Again.

No joy in Mudville (Detroit). Maybe Scherzer's mismatched eyes can do the trick in game 2 with the Indians. I will be at the ballpark tonight. To lose to a terrible pitcher like Jiminez was the nail on the coffin. Some good news: Jackson and Fister are feeling much better. VMart might be back in August. The timing of their return is crucial.
