Nick Punto with one of the worst at bats in the history of the game. Wow.

So true. Amazingly bad flails. The look on McGwire's face was pretty funny.

As a long-time St. Louisan who bleeds Cardinal red, I am pleased by tonight's result. :embar:

I think Pujols just made it harder for the Cardinals to afford him next year. Wow!

I don't get it though... theo's going to be team president and then hire a new GM.... so the thing he's supposedly great at (building a team through player acquisitions/development/analysis) is going to be done by a different guy.

I don't know if i'd want to work under him (even if I was his friend/former colleague) as a GM if he was going to be the one actually making the decisions on players - its like the GM is still an assistant GM. Thats would suck for the new GM if the guy makes all the key acquisitions/analysis that win a championship and theo ends up getting the credit.

Why not let him be both GM and president of baseball operations.

you know when Pujols did something special when he makes McCarver sit quietly and just say (oh my god...) - instead of blurting out some inane factoid/annoyance.

I noticed that too! I think it was after the next at bat had begun when McCarver starting speaking in amazed tones about Pujols's homer.

Out by a country mile, no less. Ron Washington is winning the coaching battle.
