Trying to get to the Marlins-Oakland game while in town. A real barnburner of a game but at least a nice stadium.

Loved this! Some welcome humor in a season from hell for our heroes in orange and black.

28 years and counting for the Boys in Blue!

Season from hell indeed. But where do the Giants go from here?

No Berman tonight. This will be the best Home Run Derby in a long time.

Good question. Do you blow the team up? Or try to make some tweaks and get back in the playoff picture next season? Madbum, Crawford and Posey are the untouchables. Guys I would also like to keep are Panik and Samardzija. Everyone else can go, but who would take them? Cueto and Belt might bring some badly needed young talent into the organization.

Giants are going to end up not picking up the option on Matt Moore, who has the worst ERA of any starter in the major leagues.

And please, Evans, in the name of God, get someone to take Melancon off our hands! His contract is the stuff of nightmares.

And then there are the relievers. The current brigade makes the walk from the bullpen look like the "bridge of sighs" we endured in 2005-06: Scott Munter, Vinnie Chulk, Tyler Walker, Armando Benitez, Jack Taschner, Tim Worrell, Matt Herges and others I've managed to forget.

Word is Cueto's opting out, so any trade would be a short-term rental anyway, right? But yeah, the Giants are in trouble, and not a lot of help down on the farm, afaik.

Dodgers might not win this year (hey, it's baseball!), but the thing I'm happiest about with the new ownership/management team is its focus on sustainability. Farm system went from gutted to gold in three years or so. Cost some big bucks, of course, but (hey, it's baseball!).

I suspect the Giants are hoping he will opt out. Otherwise they're going to be paying him a lot of money over the next 5 years.

    YEAR AGE SALARY
    2018 32 $21,000,000
    2019 33 $21,000,000
    2020 34 $21,000,000
    2021 35 $21,000,000
    2022 36 $22,000,000

Any team that trades for him has to consider this as well.

My point exactly--he's not a particularly valuable trade chip.
