The "Third Season Syndrome" thing with Jose doesn't hold up well to a detailed examination of his record, but there's definitely something about him that screams short-term solution. He might be a bit like Sam Allardyce in that respect.

Allardyce is the manager that clubs near the bottom of the table turn to when they absolutely must not get relegated, but you know that his brand of football will only work for a couple years before something more is needed. Mourinho might go down as the Big Sam for top-of-the-table clubs who just need another push to win a few things, with the understanding that the relationship will only last two or three years.

Madrid Ultras already want Mou back in place of Benitez.

I honestly don't know where I stand on the issue. I'd sooner Perez humbly go back to Carlito.

D'ya think he'd ever consider taking on a basket case like Roma? Perfect opportunity to take on a real challenge & prove himself again...:)

U should be petrified if it doesn't...

Roma should cut their losses now when they can and get a coach over the mass break. It's only downhill with him if he stays.

Early speculation on Chelsea boards say Valencia could be a possible destination for the (un)Happy One.

I'm gutted that he's gone, but not so much out of a love for him but for what it says about the state of affairs at the club. One point above the drop zone in mid-December?!?! I know that greater parity is coming to the EPL, but 1st to 16th in one season?!?!

I'm not sure that Gary Neville would really want Jose as an assistant. He does have previous as a translator, though, so that could be an option.

As a (half-assed) Man U supporter, I'd love to see Guardiola get the job. And if Mourinho is hired, my half-assedness would only grow.

Nice result for Arsenal today. Would love to see a two-horse race for the title between them and the Foxes!

WTF man!? You are as "half-assed" as they come! We're only 7pts behind Arsenal and it's only December!

Well, Ozil has sure stepped up his game since I said he was crap. He's to hoping he gets injured :)

pretty messed up to wish injury upon somebody, no matter the team ...

anyway don't worry, things will take a turn for the worse once barcelona put us to the sword.

Calm down....I only meant non career ending.

Should be the opposite. They will only have the league to focus on, but yeah, it never works out that way.

I'm not one of those half-assed fans whose support depends on results!

My apathy is based on other issues: the extreme monetization of every aspect of the sport; the guaranteed corruption of almost anyone with any power in the game; cynical proponents of results-only approaches who deny that sport is entertainment; the widespread human rights abuses associated with major tournaments these days; oligarchs stuffing clubs with cash generated through extremely dubious practices; Pepe; etc.

Can they even go for Mourinho? Only been with LVG for 2 years, sets a pretty bad precedent
