Speaking of football, Rutgers has made an impressive comeback against Arkansas.

I read an article earlier that said Meyer went for it on four and four while holding a 62-0 lead.

I see we can expect the Urbman to display the same level of class at OSU as he did at UF.

It's completely embarrassing that major college football teams schedule crappy FCS and other overmatched opponents that they can blow up by 70 points. Hopefully the new playoff will more effectively consider strength of schedule and not reward teams for running up the score on opponents they shouldn't even be scheduling.

In my opinion it's not even fun to watch these types of games. Embarrassing indeed.

I stopped paying attention near the end, but I think that might have been in lieu of an easy FG. You can't just go into the victory formation with 10 minutes left on the clock because you feel bad for the opponent. THat would be worse. Also - we went down in polls after week 1 because we didn't win by as big a margin as Oregon, so.... anybody that says margin of victory is no longer a consideration has underestimated the human factor in the rankings.

This was a late add - we had Vandy scheduled, but they backed out - can't remember why. Possibly so that everyone can still say tOSU has never beaten an SEC team (since the win over Arkansas was revoked). Ironically, they actually chose FAMU for the band, which is suspended over a hazing issue and couldn't make the trip. Also, with late notice, there are not too many schools to choose from.

It was pretty bad, but Guiton's record, in addition to the fact that this is biggest margin of victory since the 60s were interesting for Buckeye fans.

Not just a criticism of Ohio State; there were a lot of crap games this weekend. A lot of major schools do this and it makes for some really boring games that might as well be preseason tune-ups. I doubt all of them are because the school couldn't find a real opponent to play.

Well, FWIW... the NCAA says that only 60% (IIRC, it may be 70 but I doubt that) of games must be against FBS opponents, that leaves a lot of open games. And considering there are 125 programs in FBS, there's going to be a lot of bad teams. I guess what I'm trying to say is that these games are, in many ways, sort of inevitable. And I can't really fault people for gaming the system of polling.

Also, as an alum of one of the gutless pillows, these games allows us to afford our football program. So there's that.

Wow. You guys must have really, really short memories. Not saying I think he's going to Texas, but as an LSU fan I can assure you that he and his family's word is worth about as much as a flaming pile of dog shit.

Oh no I agree with you. He just fed the fans the exact same line about how happy his family was in Baton Rouge, how the kids were settled in school, etc. Gave me a good laugh, old dog new tricks and all
