2012 Resolutions

    I'm not big on the whole NY resolution thing but this year the new year coincided with the need to get back to watching my weight. Starting yesterday I've moved back to weight loss mode. Let myself creep up to 219 and I plan to be down to 210 this year. I also always have financial goals and this year is the same as last: more money in the new house fund.

    What are your resolutions?

    I have a tendency to go back to smoking cigarettes when they are available and when i'm on my second drink of the day. I'm going to try to quit that..

    The usual. New boss, another marathon or three, more savings, read more books, spend more time with the fam, visit the friends more, and buy/keep fewer things.

    I'm sure stitchy doesn't mind the competition. :hide:

    I'd like to lose 15 pounds, which is only partly within my control. So the part that is -- drink less and exercise more. Watch television less and read more. And take two international trips.

    Save more. Starting with 7% per paycheck. Filled out a deposit form so I don't even need to think about it. And I'm committed to simply not touching that savings account.

    - get abs back over the summer
    - finally get some dental work done that i've been putting off
    - reread the game of thrones series (just found the 2nd book in a thrift store for .99 c.. it's a sign!)

    Yeah, this thread is more up my alley than the iGent one, I think. So I'm reposting.

    at least 2 CX races.
    try out XC skiing and/or snowshoeing (though my bad shoulder could inhibit that).
    I gotta stop my habit of eating donuts as soon as I get to the office. And the diet coke.
    And I really like Ambulance Chaser's watch less TV, so I'll add that too. Get out and take a walk.

    I try not to set the bar too high. So while I should get my weight down 15 lbs to under 200, hopefully riding more, less TV, and fewer donuts will help get me there.

    Weight loss about 5kg or so. I put off buying clothing until I can get the weight under control again. I really wanted to get black tie and go see Tosca in February but I doubt I can fit all of that in.

    I want to spend some time in New York to see an old boss. I also wanted to go to Montreal to see an old mate of mine. I wanted to get to London before the jubilee and Olympics madness to see my old work mates. Apparently I need to clean up my parent's house. I should probably also shut down one of my corporations so I don't burden myself with a weekend worth of bookkeeping and tax filing every year. I saved 11% of my net pay last year. I reckon I should increase it to 20%. I should probably get my health card. I think one of my cousins is angry at me so I wanted to reconcile with her. I wanted to try an overnight rail ride - probably to Halifax or this gastronomy one I saw in Quebec.

    I've tried to read The Magic Mountain probably five times. I get about half way through and drop it.
