I was listening to NPR today and there are analyst estimates that this is the worst Christmas season for retailers in 40 years. Do you guys expect the best deals Dec 24th or Dec 26th? Does it vary depending on product? e.g. electronics vs clothes. I'm betting that the best deals are Dec 26th when the retailers realize for a fact that they are in the red.

I'm not wishing retailer ill, but I don't see why I should pay more when I don't have to. In particular I have certain electronic toys/appliances in mind come Dec 26th.

Do you guys have things in mind you are holding out for?

I'm holding out for the 26th. A few items of my interest will be on deep discount for a few hours that morning.

I am as well... I'm in the market for some high end shoes and looking forward to severe discounts...

What are some good places to hit up in the days after Xmas this year? In Manhattan, that is? I am not a sale connoisseur, I'm afraid.

In San Francisco, definitely not Saks. It's already so picked over on account of their earlier sales. Actually, I think quite a few stores have limited inventory on account of the earlier than usual sales. In San Francisco, I'm hoping Brooks Brothers has a good sale, as well as Barneys and Neiman Marcus. Will be interesting, no doubt.
