1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

It has been 2 years since New York Times did a profile on SF and AAAC and that's how I found out about this forum. How quaint to look back at the article. So how many of you found out about SF through the NYT article? Back then we only had 1,100 members, now almost 6,000.

Yep, I read it a couple months ago for the first time... very cool to see the progression this forum has undergone (or regression in some cases).

I knew about AAAC before SF and before the article. I found both SFs while looking for jeans info. So, Google deserves the credit here.

I found this site through a sort of confluence of searching for where a suit of mine was from, and that article. Funny stuff...lemme see if I can go find my first post...

That is how I found out about both forums. I have learned a lot since I have joined and am happy I have. However, my wallet has thinned out because I have become addicted to ties.

I remember the article and the surge of people following it. I was a member for a while before the article came out, I found out about the site from a link on about.com.

Count me as a refugee from Modern Man. Never imagined I'd be trading clear metal collar stays for Hildeetch, Dunheel, Thomas Pink kites and beer gardens.

I came over from the GQ Forum horror show. I lurked for awhile. I don't think I actually started posting until the article came out.

I came from Modern Man as well. Clear metal collar stays ... perhaps the greatest post of all time.

It's probably been re-posted before, but here's the original in all its glory. http://www.modernman.com/cgi-bin/for...D3&archive=yes

I'm waiting for Borrelli to start offering handmade collar stays in horn.

I came from modern man myself. I remember one poster named Josh, who would talk about his arrow dress shirts.

A refugee from the old GQ forum. I remember J., Steve, LA Guy, PStoller and a few others broke away from the fatherland to start this rebellious little Republic. I took up arms and followed.

    Not everyone is happy . . .
Hey! Why didn't I get a mention in the article? Without me, there's no Styleforum. And Jeremy, one man's "fighting" is another man's "attempt to make a love connection." [IMG]

I found out this site from the Times article. I was lurking here for about month and decided to join the Sartorial Federation without realizing it's cult and now I can't get out!

I suspect most of the members who joined during late September, Oct. and probably Nov. of 2004 found out about this site from the article.

I came from Modern Man as well. Clear metal collar stays ... perhaps the greatest post of all time.

Where's the post and picture of the way he inserted the shoetrees?

I remember one poster named Josh, who would talk about his arrow dress shirts.

I remember one poster here whose name I forgot, who would talk about his pink Van Hausen dress shirts.

FWIW, Krieger does make a clear aluminum watch case. It's called the Mysterium, I believe.
