I just posted a msg. about suit jacket length so I was trying on suit jackets to determine ideal length. I seem to prefer a 31.5"-32" length on a suit jacket, but the longs I've been buying are around 33"-33.5". So, just for kicks I measured my Canali Proposta suit I bought a few years ago, it's a 3-button and I just love it! =) Most of my suits are 2-button, and although I'm 6'1" and have been told 3-buttons go better w/the length of my body, I wanted a more conservative look.

Anyhow, I measured the Canali and it's 33", but I've never once even considered the length as being too long. What gives?! I'm guessing it's the 3-button vs. the 2-button ... could that be it? Could it be that the lapel being shorter on a 3-button make the length less of an issue?

Your thoughts?

In my perspective.

As long as the coat has less than four button, all of the above will do a good job for a tall guy.

It is a matter of preference I would say.

Probably you need to pay more attention on the gorge rather than the button.

Sorry, am new to this forum.

3 button with only the middle button buttoned instead of buttoning the top 2.

Almost but not quite. 3 rolling to 2.5 is when the top button (and button hole) are only partially visible as the roll of the lapel begins at about the same level.
