I've been invited to attend an event next monday evening. It's a fund-raiser for the charity work done by MacDonalds, and there is a 1960s theme. I'm not one to dress up (I'm not going as Austin Powers), but wondering if there are any suggestions for a fairly smart yet subtle 1960s look? I was thinking about a Beatles type look but lack the suit and narrow ties

Do you want to do early Beatles or late Beatles?

If you want to do early sixties on the cheap, then get a narrow dark tie and narrow black trousers. And a close fitting black cardigan. A white shirt with small points would be good too, but if you have the narrow tie against the white shirt people will see the tie first.
