Second this, I love the older eastern influenced stuff with cool fabrics and patterns. All the recent nylon and synthetic stuff really isn't my jam.

I'm hoping some of the shift is just due to the pandemic. Travel to be able to work with the craftspeople in India is not really possible right now.

They should split it into a sub-label like some other brands do:

18 west for skate and work wear
18 east for Eastern inspired garments

:D

Would certainly help me know which drops to pay attention to! :)

Random thought, it took me a stupid long time to figure out that Antonio's IG profile "Forever pushing switch mongo" was about skating.

I thought he was talking about Mongo database (first entry when you Google Mongo) and he used it to build the website himself. I only realized this late last year. ?‍♂️

I don't feel it's respectful to pop into an affiliate thread of a company you copied and say, hey come check out my stuff,
totally agree
But for now, I'm done talking about Karu or Story as this is an 18E thread
totally agree

dude, you should check out this new brand Karu!

got all 3 colors of the new double knees in mail today... why’s everyone getting rid of these? they’re everything i loved about the original pair but with a way more practical fit and material. hated that stretch fabric and odd seating on the last pair but these are near-perfect and probably won’t see much of a shrinkage when washed. also feel like the army green is way more pigmented on this run than the last? idk anyone thinking of picking up a pair should act i love these

^100%. Just got mine in the mail, tried them on, and haven't taken them off. Only reason I'm not keeping one pair is because I was so geeked to get these I ordered two sizes to make absolute sure I had a pair that fit.

Ha yep, was about to say I think part of the resale is several of us picked up multiple sizes to give us fit options and are getting rid of the size(s) that weren't as good of a fit

Just got the Bangs shirt and I love it. Very glad I didn't sleep on it. The natural corduroy is a great weight with an interesting and lovely look. And it has side entry hand pockets! Didn't even realize from the pics/description.

To the earlier points about "I miss the old 18 East":

The thing I appreciate most from a brand is a strong point of view that clearly reflects who the designer is and what they're all about.

So even if I found a certain era of 18 East resonated most with me (personally, I like it all!), I wouldn't want to see the brand just remain static and keep pumping that same thing out to cater to me, at the expense of evolving with the designer's vision.

I think it's awesome to see things progress and change over time, and I also like to see a brand pushing the boundaries of my own personal tastes and helping me get outside my aesthetic comfort zone.

(Though, really, I do feel like there is a pretty consistent thread running through it all still, so not sure how much there even is to discuss here).

I hope Antonio pivots back to some of the previous style vibes he had with the earlier collections. The ikat and patchwork shorts, embroidered tees, and block print shirts and pants are what got me into the brand. The more recent stuff have been skate and work wear. I already have enough of that.

I would love a re-do of the patchwork sahasika now that the fit (length) has been updated.

Not trying to spark the debate again, but Harago's tee with the selvedge stripe looks awfully similar to the one Antonio posted on IG a while back.

I think you’re referring to my Harago tee...Harsh is my friend and we have a bunch of each other’s stuff.

As for the direction of the collection going forward, you are going to see all of our interests explored. There are still plenty of prints and embroidery, handloom fabrics etc.

Has there been any consideration of other shipping methods for international shipping?

Currently the double knees i ordered are in detroit, after spending a week bobbing around the east coast. Hopefully they head for europe and me soon.
