My Sam shirt came in really fast. Was not expecting it to be this cropped though, that's going to take some getting used t. Should have sized up, as is the old rule with this brand I guess.
Yeah, Sam Shirt is not for me for this reason. I hold out for other silhouettes. Hope you can make it work though.

Each to their own, but I find with the Sam (and all the cropped styles; Cam & Pilchuck etc) you are better off sizing for the length, with the understanding that it is designed to be slightly cropped. At 6'1 the XL works great and has a slightly cropped, boxy silhouette.

If I size down to a Large the result is awkward, even though it fits in the chest because of the boxy cut.

i’ve avoided the sam, but really felt the pull of the canvas versions this fw and kopped a black and tan to wear as a jacket in my mostly super mild to nonexistent fw seasons - they wear very much like any intentionally cropped pattern that you balance out.

man the tweed Lamar is perfect. couldn’t be happier with it.

this will mean something to maybe two people max, but the way it feels reminds me slightly of an old Eidos chiaia coat I had, except better.

also hangs nicer worn open than my melton Lamar (which I also love but find works best if i button a button or two)
post a pic! i haven't worn mine out yet because i'm struggling to figure out how to style it or if it just needs to be worn in a bit

Here's a couple of pics, worn mine every day since it came in lol. My first topcoat, I haven't been worrying about styling too much, just enjoying wearing it tbh. So far though I think I really like pairing it with brown pants.

Does anyone have experience with ordering via email lately?
I couldn’t get through on the studio phone, but was able to get an email reply.
I was asked to confirm my address, but nothing else.
How do I pay?

Regarding the Sam shirts they aren't that cropped especially compared to other brands, it sounds like people are having problems with layering. The rise on 18e pants are long enough to work, you need at least a medium rise otherwise proportions would look off.

If you're wearing a tee underneath it has to be within a couple inches in length. The Grahame tees should work in the same size and 18e made a lot of shorter tees before that would work

They will send an invoice with a link you can use to checkout

ah thanks! I wish I could get another pair.

speaking of shoes, the winter preview also sold me on a pair of Merrell Wilderness 1TRLs. I regret missing out on the Oakledge Hiker Low, but these will hold me over until the Mephistos that apparently are in the works?

I'm digging the new knit in black, as well as these brown cargos (looking like neo-goreckis?) and what appears to be a reprise of the zipped shirt jacket from the homegrown collection:

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
