1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

For what it's worth, I've always thought the Jardine's HK building was particularly attractive but one man's trash another man's garbage, etc...

Has been for a few decades apparently as I remember this as a youngin crossing the Monroe street bridge (pre construction) to go to the old River Park Square. You should remember that era, probably the same time you lived in Spokane.

"The true irony in the story of this building is that only forty years before they tore the original down in 1967, several fire fighters gave their LIVES to save the city hall from a fire that otherwise leveled the entire downtown.
After they saved the building, Eisenhower huffed and puffed and blew it right down."

The Fall River City Hall has been undergoing a five-year, 16 million dollar renovation to repair failing building supports. Perhaps situating the entire building over interstate 195 was not such a good idea.

Tie--although I have to think the Gehry building is slightly worse because Gehry builds this junk all over the place and everybody associates it with high-minded architecture.

Hardly an eyesore. If these are viewed in the context they were conceived in, they are stunning examples of high Modernism.

I actually think it looks pretty amazing in person, that is a really bad picture/angel though. One of the few buildings with character in an otherwise bland and boring city. And no it is not a bug museum, but a performing arts centre and concert hall and generally called the Durian, a fruit that it very much resembles from most angles. I also like the Jardin building in Hong Kong. The 1000 arseholes nickname is even more fun considering it used to house some kind of government agency at the time it got it's name.

If those are an eyesore, please post a photo of what you do find attractive in an office tower?

something other than a black rectangular prism. Huge black squares really brighten up the skyline............................[IMG]
