Let's put it this way. Even if that guy is NOT buttfucking the dog, if he lets go of it, it will attack the pisser's peen. It is sexual no matter which way you slice it.

The judges will accept that.

The Washington Post name Michael Chin's "Crystal" addition to the Royal Ontario Museaum to be the worst of the decade:

Reminds me of the Museum of Contemporary Jewish Art in SF, by Liebeskind:

They both look like some sort of alien crystal based life form is attacking an older building.

The Jewish Museum sits in the shadow of the Marriott that Matt posted earlier (aka the Wurlitzer Building).

In architecture, as in all areas of aesthetics, it's best to maintain the philosophy of "De gustibus non est disputandum." That said, MVDR and International Modern suck donkey cock.

I find that contrast visually interesting.

I'm quite fond of the integration of contemporary with traditional or something that by virtue of their differences makes for a cogent if not convulsive whole.

That's Daniel Libeskind, unless that Ching person is an associate in charge of the project.
You're right. I assumed since it is called "Michael Lee Chin Crystal" that he was the architect, but Chin was just the investor who donated the money for the expansion.

Uhh. That pyramid is iconic. When the Louvre is mentioned this is usually the first thing that will pop into someones mind. Not only that, it has become a landmark for Paris.

I. M. Pei is gangsta.

I agree with this, although that cube is much less interesting inside. The Marriot that Matt posted is one of the only truly ugly buildings in this thread. It's uninspired, bland, prosaic, and lacks any ****-you-I'm-a- building whatsoever. It's also bloody huge and takes a good part of the sky line.

Toronto has had to close nearby sidewalks in the winter as the designer apparently didn't know that it gets cold in Canada, and the thing was firing sheets of ice down onto the pedestrians below.

True win.

The ROM Crystal is hideous. They tried to out Louvre the Louvre and the British Museum Rotunda. FAIL.

I actually really like this building; I see it several times a month when I drive into Cincy from Louisville. What is there to hate?

Yeah, I think it's the only building there worth looking at.

For what it's worth, there's been 17 pages of disucssion so far on these buildings so good or bad, the architects vision has created passionate discussion. Some would say that's a success regardless of whether the design is loved or hated.

Personally, what I truly hate would be those bland buildings that do nothing to a skyline/neighbourhood. I give credit to any architect who's brave enough to erect something different - good or bad.
