1 million dollars in 1 year: How would you spend it?

Imagine you inherited quite a sum of money from a grandfather you hadn´t seen in 20 years.

As a way to show your contempt for the person who neglected your mother for most of her life, and completely forgot you for more than two thirds of yours (and after spending part of the inheritance paying your mortgage and refusbishing your house) you have one million dollars left to spend in whatever crazy thing you want.

Important: You have to burn the money, you do not want to invest it.

Any ideas?

I know, I'm sure many would spend it in less than a week.

People who would burn a free $1 million are the sort of people who will never earn their own $1 million.

I don't understand the aversion to investing it. That said, if I have to play along here, I'd spend it on clothes, cocaine, absurdly luxurious vacations, and some durable goods that aren't likely to cost me a shitload to maintain after the million is gone -- so that means classic cars, boats, and such are definitely out.

My first choice, though? Investing the million. Call me boring, call me old fashioned, or call me a stick in the mud, but I like making money more than I like spending it.

I know, you´re right, investing the money is the wisest thing to do, it´s just that I don´t want this thread to be a series of postings about stocks, options, funds... and more about funny things to do with it.

I'd pay a hitman to kill people whose names I drew from a hat.

Down payment on my dream house.

Spending that money is easy. A couple of nice cars, a couple of good trips, a few shopping sprees. It's gone.

Or, as AB said, you could invest it. I could see blowing 100k but the other 900k would be invested.

Build a pirate ship and sink it by shooting it with canons.
