a great post, and i dont think there is much i dont agree on, except that i own 2 pairs of GGs in polo suede and dont think the pair he posted reflects the proper color, the "reddish" is not as aggressive as it appears there.

either way, while his points are excellent, i do not think that is disputes the simple versatility of snuff/tobacco/polo suede, imho.

No, that was the part I was going to add.

I hope you do that literally. As in, copy and paste Stephen's whole article, repost it, and just add "either way, while his points are excellent, i do not think that is disputes the simple versatility of snuff/tobacco/polo suede, imho." Very Tumblr style.

Ha...sorry for being unclear...I am going to add the part that DOES argue that polo suede, while lovely, is not very versatile.

C&J uses something they call polo suede. It's not the same as G&G's, but it's also slightly reddish. Stephen's damn article ruined my ability to enjoy my C&J polo suede shoes.

but why would you add falsehood to an otherwise superb write up? :puzzled:

maybe you just suck at using polo suede? SHOTS FIRED!

i had a pair. i liked em, but the last was killer for my foot. i much prefer the GG polo suede anyways so i had the sj james II made up with a medallion to replace the westfields i had. the vass SOLD AT NMWA in that similar color is also excellent.

The "medium brown" suede that Vass uses is the best shade that I've personally seen. It's way nicer than standard snuff.

definitely possible. once I say my piece you can decide.

IMHO the GG polo is redder than the Vass, but I haven't seen them side by side.

im not convinced i like it more than the GG suede, but certainly not less than. if i did not already have my st james i would have insta kopped the vass.

not sure if i am :lurk: or :bounce2: .

please tag me, or notify me via some other electronic means once your piece is up. kthnx.

i have not seen them side by side either, but i have seen them individually, and the vass is less reddish than the GG.

Vass looks good. I have that same pair and love them. They work in so many situations. I wasn't sure why these didn't sell more quickly. Everyone should own them.

After a question was emailed about the construction of the Schneider Valve Coat, I figured I might as well post up what's going on with it in here as well.

This thing is incredible, and it's sort of hard to wrap your head around even when holding it.

The fabric that the shawl is made out of continues underneath it and is used to construct the inner layer, which doesn't actually wrap around the entire inside - it's just on the front and is just a fold underneath the main body and shawl. The inner collar is stitched separately but everything else is seamless - it's really quite unique.
