The Casentino cloth is an acquired taste, much like most of the popular items on clothing forum or blogs.

Referring to my tan version of this coat, a young coworker of mine called it "shabby" looking. She quickly added, though, that while it may look shabby, it is somewhat "chic"

+1 to the Casentino cloth being an acquired taste. I think my tan DB one is great as a more casual coat.

It is indeed an acquired taste, I think. I've clearly acquired the taste, as I liked the brown casentino DB I got so much, I also got the navy DB one during the last sale. Just last night though, some lady friends asked me if I was wearing an old/used coat when I wore the brown one. :tounge: I still love it though!:D

Well the Casentino certainly is a conversation piece, at the very least.

I am right with you on that, the washed just makes it look shabby. A non-washed would be on the top of my list if they do them for next year.

How would you say these fit? Any comparisons to other brands? I was looking at the suede wingtip boots but wasn't sure of the sizing.

The closest I've had to these boots was a pair from Paul Smith a few years back. They fit really well. I measured the older boots as indicated in the video and matched up the sizing on the Panax boot. They do feel a little different walking on them though but its a different sole and I'll get used to them pretty quickly.

I bought the same Panax boots and found I had to size down a full size. I normally wear a 9D in American shoe brands, and take an 8 or 42 in European brands. With the usual exceptions of course (8.5 in Edward Greens, 8.5 in Chuck Taylors, etc). Also a 9D in MMM low top GATs and CP low top Achilles, if that helps. I bought an 8 in the Panax boots, and found it fit well. There's a little bit of room at the toe though cause the boots run a touch long.

Argh. Purchased the LBM Taupe Casentino coat (single-breasted) during the sale but it turns out it's too big for me... If anyone has the same coat in a size 48 (any colour) that they'd like to trade for a 50, shoot me a pm please!

I normally take a US 11.5 so I measured my old boots as indicated in the NMWA video and they measured out to an 11 US or 10.5 Euro. There is a little room at the toe but not too much. I think if I sized down to 10.5 US, they would be too tight. Fit and finish is great. Its a really nice boot.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

I'm sure it's lovely, it's just that I have so many black coats and jackets I need to go in a different direction.
Thanks. The only thing I can ascertain is that the waist of the Mazz shirts is larger than Inglese, which I believe is 40 1/4" according to Greg.
Yeah, I gathered Inglese shoulder's quite narrow. Of the 2 shirts, which fit do you prefer and why? I have short arms, so would likely have to shorten sleeves for either. Been searching for a decent fitting RTW shirt for a while which is not easy as I have an average, albeit not slim build (suit: 42" chest, 18" shoulder, 39-40" waist), but a slightly larger neck, ideally about 16.5". Which is why the 16.7" neck on Inglese is intriguing, though I wonder if it will be too fitted in waist. Don't feel like going through the process of custom, and I don't need more than a handful of dress shirts. Nice sale prices, but no return policy makes it tricky.

I prefer the Inglese shirt fit, as well as the extra handwork on the shirt. I am 5'9" and ~148 lbs and the 15/38 Inglese (unaltered & washed multiple times) fit me pretty well, though it does get a tad tight after a heavy lunch. The Mazzarelli fit pretty generously in the waist and chest in the same size, longer sleeves which all had to be altered.

IMO the Inglese sleeves fit a lot shorter than similar brands in the same size, such as Kiton, Borrelli or Barba. I think I'm about a 17" shoulder and 24" (shoulder to sleeves).

I'm a 42L (6' 2" 185 lbs) and I went with a 54. For my personal tastes, it fits perfectly (left shirt sleeve got caught in the sleeve and I didn't pull it down):

That looks pretty good. Don't think you want to show cuffs on an overcoat though. It's not a blazer. Lengthen a half inch I think.

Btw where's the shirt from. Decent roll.
