Got a better picture of that Alva Mac? Something to show the entire piece?

Loving it.

Family vacation mostly. But I did a bit of market research there too :)
Also to bring back some fiery snacks for Kyle!

They were good!

Also, this is the part where I should probably admit that this week, I've so far eaten probably 1/3 of that huge bag of snacks you brought back...

Do you recall what color that jacket was called?

Thanks for digging up that photo @jet

I think the one I have was simply called brown. No fancy name that I recall. It didn't get restocked this fall maybe? But it took some serious willpower on my part not to pick up one of the single breasted versions year.

These coats are awesome because;
Pop the big collar for style and warmth
Deep pockets easy to stuff gloved hands into
Warm in fall and spring worn over a shirt
Warm in winter worn over a sweater
Light, but quilted wool outer is a sturdy and doesn't show wear.

Frank, you're in Chicago? How warm does that Alva keep you on cold Chicago days with a nice IM sweater say...i.e. how low can one go?

Yes, Chicago. I've found this coat to be plenty warm with a good sweater underneath and all the other appropriate cold weather items on (hat, scarf, gloves). The way it works for me in really cold weather is that it provides a nice outer shell; the tall collar really helps since you can wrap your scarf up inside that and keep cold air from getting in that way; the double breast works well in the cold since it keeps the front tight; and it's a decent length.

You aren't going to wear it for a day of hunting in the Upper Peninsula or anything, but over all I say polar vortex approved.

Thanks Frank. Do you wear it over a SC and is it long enough?

Yes, it's long enough to wear over a SC. The way the shoulders are cut and the size I have (40, which is what I'd call TTS for me), means that anything with a structured shoulder doesn't fit too comfortably underneath, but it does fit.
