A better question to the argument would be: "How do you want your shoes to look?" There isn't a right or wrong way to care for your shoes, since it's all preference based and they're your shoes at the end of the day.

If you want your Thuya's to look new and pristine for as long as possible, then throw some shoe trees in them. If you want them to be rugged and age like wine, forgo the matter.

I’m a little late in saying this but wanted to thank everyone who assisted in washing instructions for the S&C cardigan. I ended up doing a lukewarm soak with some woolite and letting dry flat and on the very last day threw it in the dryer on ultra low for 20 min.

It shrunk a little upward, closer to its original fitting and the arms shrunk inward a little as well so now it fits even better but I know over time more slouch will come through again.

no that’s true. Your shoes will age faster if you don’t put trees in or if you wear them consecutive days without rest.

but it comes back to whether or not it’s an issue for you that shoes will show wear and age faster.

as I said earlier, shoe trees for Thuyas is a non issue IMO. You can do either, depending on your priorities

I bought my Thuyas in May 2017, have never done anything to them, have worn them into the GROUND, and they look great. They have years of wear left. I wear my Thuyas at least 4-5 days a week.

Good read. I use shoe trees for all leather shoes and boots.

I feel like in an ideal world I'd use shoe trees, but I just end up forgetting to put them back in and they essentially all just live under my bed now. I think rotating through a couple of shoes is probably much more important in terms of longevity.

Shoe trees are rarely a bad idea, and almost always a good idea. Never cleaning or nourishing your leather shoes is always a bad idea.
