Grabbed the doppiaa chinos on sale and man they are nice.

Speaking of the Thuya -- what was the consensus opinion on shoe trees or no?

Also are the IM pre-orders due soon?

I don’t see a down side to using trees for any leather shoes. It could only help them look better as they age.

Or not. Depending on what one considers "better looking". Some may value the creases and misshaping that happens when not putting trees in...

Yeah, that’s fair. But by that logic I could say I prefer how my suits look when I store them balled up on the floor rather than on a hanger. While that could be my preference, I would think most store them hung in the closet.

In this case of a general question about leather shoe care and whether tress should be used, I say yes. Using trees is basic shoe care along with occasional conditioning.

Sure, in theory. Except that you’d be hard pressed to find people here who subscribe to the balled up suit preference (at least here) whereas I’m sure many of us prefer our casual shoes (thuya, sneakers) to have the shape they acquire when not using trees. I know I do.

using shoe trees is basic shoe care mostly when trying to keep the new shoe shape.

agreed. any shoe that isn't a "dress shoe" i think looks better with all the wear clearly visible. my sneakers, boots, mocs, and thuya's (which consider essentially boot shoes) don't get trees in them.

I bought way too many shoe trees, and use them for all my shoes, because I initially read about the moisture control properties of the cedar wood. Has that been a lie or negligible enough that it isn't really required?
