I get the same thought about long coats in general and am curious whether such garments are best served for people living in the city that take public transportation on the daily. To me it would make more sense, in the subway or walking a few blocks. Of course I can always take off the coat when entering the car but TBH when it is chilly out it is more work for little reward. I really only do that when I am wearing a suit and even then I'm just like 'fuck it', which I think should be the general attitude...just clothes. I had linings tear because I am sitting on a long coat, just sew it back and get on with it.

Damn, another 10% off the LBM coats. @gdl203 & @conceptual 4est , is it your take that one should size up in those as others have mentioned? I guess I'm getting hung up on the fact that the measurements for a 52 seem like they'd be right for a 41" chest...

Size up 1 if you're wearing it over a jacket/suit. That's 54 for you. This LBM style isn't as small-fitting as the previous seasons.

Gotcha, I wondered if that might be the case. Thanks for the quick reply. Considering scooping it for casual weekend wear, but the whole reason I started looking was for something to wear over a suit. Hah. Back to debating if I can pull off the Eidos.

Oy Vey. $92.50 for this PF jacket? Cryckee.

Folks aren't digging this one as much as I am. Maybe the length?

The Monitaly coat is so intriguing (esp at that price), though I'm reasonably worried I couldn't pull it together. Any ideas on sizing? There are no measurements on the NMWA product page, but honestly not sure how I'd translate them. On Unionmade the arms are quite short and awkward wizard-sleevey on their fit models, but there are some dope fits from around the web for inspo:

^ interested in answer to this, it sat in my wishlist for the longest time, then I convinced myself that I can never pull it off.

I'd venture my most recently thrifted shearling is of a similar quality level as that Valstar, and while I've worried about the same thing it hasn't really shown any signs of that being the case. Granted I've only had occassion to wear it a few times so far, but considering the brand is from the 70s and it could more or less pass like it was bought last week, I think as long as you avoid any obvious dangers you'd be fine.

Literally anything, but I’m a big fan of tonal fits, so light gray jacket, white shirt, gray tie (possibly a simple pattern), black shoes. Think Thom Browne except not smurf sized.

Love this thread, based in europe and never shopped at NMWA so not sure why i do, but i feel with the new title and all comments related to someone "swooping in and buy the item before you-hit me up if it doesnt work" - your theme song should be "Pull the trigger, ain't nobody gonna do it for you" :D
