    New Jersey Cobbler Recommendations

Any recommendations for a cobbler who could do a quality resole on a goodyear welted Crockett & Jones oxford? Open channel is fine. I get worried that every cobbler near me in Northern NJ will just do a half sole glue job or a terrible resole. Anyone have a good experience with a Cobbler in NJ...

One Shoe lighter & won’t darken with polish - Yohei Fukuda

Hi all, I can’t seem to fix the lightened color of my right Yohei Fukuda. Lovely shoe, but was a super difficult break in (& I love a tough break in period). During which I had to use a shoe stretcher (which I never do). I put on some Saphir lotion while it was on the stretcher & it seemed to...

Hi everyone, Does anyone know where I can find a good cobbler in the Miami area? Sometimes it’s hard to find great cobblers and you can’t always trust google reviews since most people don’t own GYW shoes or don’t have much knowledge or experience with higher quality footwear. thank you! MS

Will a cobbler fix crooked stitching on a leather sandals?

I got customized birkenstocks recently and the person used real Louis Vuitton leather to put on top of the original sandal. His stitching came off as crooked and I can't return them. I am trying to see if it is possible for a shoe cobbler to re-stitch the sandals and make the lines straight.

Uncommon wear/abrasion: Toe nails scratching through toe box of high class shoes

Long time lurker, first time poster - now starting a topic with a rather ridiculous question. The problem is such: I have prominent and uncommonly sharp toe nails which despite being cared for on a regular basis rub and scratch through the lining of my better shoes (largely Vass and John Lobb...

Water marks on new brown leather shoes???

Help!! So I wore these out on new years eve and it was snowy and wet out. The club required nice shoes so I wore these out in those conditions. I thought it wouldn't be an issue but the day after I realized it now has black like, water stains all over the shoe. How do I get rid of them? Does...

Is there a way to lighten the color of suede shoes?

I recently bought a dark brown suede loafer online, and it appears that the color of the shoe is a bit darker than I hope it'd be. For ordinary calf shoes, you could use cream of darker shade to make it darker. But what can you do for suede shoes? Also, is it possible to make the color...

What solvent will soften or thin shoe polish?

It is commonly known that shoe polish contains petroleum solvents. Over time, even in a closed tin, the solvents evaporate leaving even a hardly used tin with lumpy dry polish. Can I add some solvent back into it which will, with a little heat, rejuvenate it? If so, what is the best solvent...

Scratched patent leather : Is there anyway to save my shoes?

Hi everybody, I'm pretty sad because I scratched my Givenchy patent leather shoes i just bought (worn 5 times), after falling on the stairs (I'll spare the details on how it happened, l'm already quite embarassed :S) the left shoe is scratched on the ankle area and it's quite visible, (the sole...

    Church's repair service

Hello, I have a pair of Church's Blakeny brogues with red brick soles which have worn quite a bit after a few years. My local cobbler does not have a matching red brick sole, unfortunately (their option was a far darker shade of red). I am therefore considering sending them to Church's. Does...

How to remove a shoe dent?

I could use some help with a pair of shoes I recently bought. Something was dropped on one of my AE oxfords recently, right on the toe, and now there is a dent in the toe that I can't remove. I've tried pushing up the dent by putting newspaper on my shoe tree, and generally making it as tight...

Car wax on shoes (I know, a sin...)

I'm not much of a shoe care expert, but I've been detailing cars since I was a kid. So I had some free time, was reading up on some detailing forums, and got to thinking, why not? So I grabbed the nearest sealant (NXT), an old pair of shoes I wouldn't care much about destroying, and put on a...

    Restoring faded suede shoes?

I have a pair of dark brown suede shoes that are getting pretty light toward the toe area. What's the best way to go about restoring / darkening them back to the original color (same as the rest of the shoe)? They are worn enough that my simple brushing doesn't work. Is there an alternative?

Prematurely Wearing Down The Back Of The Heel

I've been having this problem with just about every pair of shoes, boots, etc. that I own (RM Williams Chelseas, a pair of Johnston and Murphys, etc.), and I need to figure out a solution before I start purchasing some nicer shoes. The problem is that the very back of the heel is wearing much...

    Tod's sole replacement

OK, so I have a pair of Tod's loafers, nice shoes, uber comfy..they are not drivers so I am expected to walk in them.
