For unlined shoes, is it only the front that is unlined or the heel area too? My ShoeMart 2nds were on the Barrie last and only the front in unlined...

yah
hey, other than being on the barrie last, what was the defect on yours?

on one of the shoes the leather piping? lining the lace area is cut up on one side if this makes sense. Noticeable when you look for it but not when the shoes are tied.

Another dumb sizing question, sorry.

I comfortably wear an 8.5D in Barrie and Tru-Balance lasts. I'm interested in the wingtip boots offered by Alden of Carmel and J. Gilbert, which are on Leydon and Plaza lasts, respectively. Should I simply size up to 9D in those, or will the toe box be too tight? The toe box in 8.5D Tru-Balance is fine, and in Barrie is OK, slightly snug against the little toes. I've no idea how the Plaza or Leydon lasts compare in the toe box. Plaza is said to be longer than regular size, so would 8.5E be best?

Dumb question, but I'd love to hear from anyone with experience with the Barrie and Leydon or Plaza lasts.

Your suede PTBs above look great. Nice addition to your collection. You should pick up a pair of Barrie last shoes to stick pins into, you know, for some fun.:)

For comparison, I wear a 10.5D in Truebalance. My brannock size is 11C. I tried the 11C in Plaza and it was a little tight in the toe. The 11.5C in Plaza is more comfortable.

Mac, very nice!  I have never seen a split toe monk.  I've learned so much from your posts, and I cannot adequately express my thanks.

Good Day for Ravello WT boots!

Thanks for that. Interesting that you went to 11.5C, not 11D. It's so hard without being able to try them on.

After seeing so many nice pictures of the LWBs (never really considered them), I decided to try them on @ the Alden Store in SF. I was determined to make a color 8 shell chukka my first shell purchase, but was blown away by the LWBs.

They looked surprisingly good with the jeans I had on (didn't expect that) and the chukkas didn't seem as versatile as I expected them to be. They didn't have cigar, so I went w/ the color 8.

One odd thing. My Indy's on truebalance last are 8.5D. I was determined to get the LWBs on barrie last in an 8.5D, but they simply didn't fit well (too big, could fit a finger in the heel when I stood up). The 8D fit fine, but I was confused. Eventually I just got them. I went home and measured the outsole and measured the width and other measurements (and aligned them side by side) and they are pretty much identical, the LWBs were even slightly bigger in certain respects. Don't want to start any second guessing on sizing, but I thought barrie and trubalance were pretty much the same--odd right--or am I missing something?

Does seems strange. The trubalance should feel larger than Barrie, not the other way around.
