This is an extremely formal fabric which, as a result of its lustre and crease-resistance, is one of the most common fabrics for dinner jackets. Easy to wear in any season, the prevailing colours are black or midnight blue. The balance between the shiny materials and a construction which skilfully breaks the light has made barathea an evening star, an astral body which lights up at night, whenever a little zest is wished for in spite of the formality of black-tie events. With its cool hand and good transpiration it seems light, but its 300 g/m are easily appreciable in its sumptuous drape. As the weave derives from twill, the two sides are different. The outside has closer weft movements, a single yarn of pure wool, but the warp is remarkable for the thickness of the two-ply and the lustre of the mohair blend. This kind of combination, along with its density, creates a surface of a myriad fragmentations, like cobbles in the rain.
