New SF member and not sure where to find the answer you're looking for? Have a quick question that doesn't belong in a current thread? Welcome, you found the right place.

This is a weekly thread where new users can ask quick questions and get a solid answer. If a thread already exists that would be more helpful, we will point you in the right direction. The only stupid question is the one that isn't asked.....so ask away!

Hi All,

Think this is my first post here, if not I've been away so long it makes no odds. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I find myself with a need for a pair of black shoes, preferably of a semi or quarter brogue style in the £200-300 range. Dainite soles would be something of a plus as I'm likely to be interviewing for jobs soon and the weather here in Blighty is not overly reliable for those of us without cars.

I've personally had a good experience with Barker shoes, their 29 and 69 lasts seem to fit me fairly well (normally I take G sizing but the pair of Pembrokes I acquired a few years ago have done me very nicely) so my first thought was to return to the well, either a Leybourne or, if the extra money seemed warranted, Linz.

I know however that I'm something of a neophyte in the world of expensive shoes (yeah, I know £300 is pocket change to some on this forum but I am a man of more modest means) so I'd like to see if anyone has any other brands they would recommend that might work for me?

Bonus points if there's some way I can 'try before I buy' in the East Midlands, I know a place that carries a fair amount of Barker shoes but otherwise, I'm at something of a loss.

Cheers,

P

Hi,

I'm looking for some dressy khakis or chinos in a darker british tan color. I don't want 'relaxed' like Mtn. Khakis but I don't want skinny/slim fit khakis either. Can anyone recommend a good inbetween? I'm thinking something with a leg opening around 8'. Thoughts?

Hello,

I had a light wool, full canvas suit made for me recently. Recently I moved temporarily to Africa, where the climate is quite humid. I notice a slight dampness to my clothes all the time and then I realized that my jacket is puckering, and bubbling!

It seems similar to damage that I've seen from extensive steaming of clothes.

I took my jacket to the office where the air is air conditioned and dry, hoping that this may dry out my jacket and make the puckering disappear. But it doesn't seem to have made a difference.

Could getting the jacket professionally pressed fix this?

It is far too small for you and you have filled the inner pockets. I rather think that the so-called "puckering" and "bubbling" is a direct result.

Not sure how you are concluding it too small based on that picture.

Supbla, welcome to the forum. First off, never button the bottom button on your jacket. If you want us to take a look at the "bubbling", we are going to need better pictures. Maybe it just needs a press after exposure to humidity?

So I have struggled to find a good slim fit dress shirt due to my 38 sleeve requirement.

I'm 6'5" and 225. Very athletic build (former swimmer) and the brooks brothers slim fit is even a little large on me but it works.

I have been buying the Bb slim fits from their sale section and have been very happy with their durability. I do wash them myself.

I need to refresh my wardrobe and was wondering if you guys had any advice for someone my size. I'm ok sticking with Bb but was curious who else offered my size shirts.

I want non iron, plan to continue to so the laundry myself.

I believe Bb shirts in my size also come a little longer and have an extra button. That is preferred.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. What have you been paying for your BB and what are you willing to pay for better quality?

Welcome to the forum, Cailet. You need to check out Carmina. For sizing help, go here:

http://www.styleforum.net/t/291006/the-official-carmina-sizing-thread

They will also tell you the best places to buy them...we have a couple great Affiliate Vendors on the forum that carry them.

Have paid in the 40/50 range and I think the current 3 for 219 is reasonable.

So would prefer the 50 price range but ok going up to 75 range.

Look how it is pulling from the buttons and the wearer's right breast area shows a lump characteristic of an over filled pocket,
