S.N.S. Herning is pretty much my to sweater brand for the winter. The stuff is made for wearing, not for admiring on a rack, but we saw a very strong season that has knits that could also just as easily be just admired on the shelf, if that's your thing.

I have the opportunity to meet with the very friendly and camera shy Soren Skyt at Pitti Uomo 83 this year, and we got to chat about the upcoming S.N.S. Herning collection for the upcoming FW13 collection some.

He reads Styleforum sometimes, and is, I think, a little amused, and probably a little puzzled, but the comments. To clarify, yes, he meant to make the Stark, which he described as a bread and butter, staple piece, a little shorter and trimmer this season, and didn't realize the internet uproar that this would cause. He himself was wearing an older piece, a navy zip cardigan with a yellow arm band, which he did with Comme des Garcons a few years back, and the thing hits just under the belt.

This coming winter, the pieces I was most excited about were the new "ION" knit and body, which is a high buttoning cardigan with a thicker trim, some flatlock stitching treatment on the shoulder and a really interesting weave. This is, Soren told me, something he brought out of the archives. Not sure why he waited this long, because the weave is fantastic.

Another is the "Memento" weave, which is based on the idea of a very subtle memento Mori

My favorite new colors of the year are the navy mix, and I've tried to show the colors here, and this really remarkable "oxblood mix" which is a really deep red with blacks and greys. Pretty amazing. There is also what he called a "great blanket" which is huge - about 8 lbs of fabric, which is not in the order sheet, but it could keep you warm (hopefully, it would be you and someone) on the coldest Canadian winters.

Enough talk. Here are the pictures:

My old SNS Stark has kept me warm for years...In fact, I wear it almost everyday at work during the winter! Solid stuff.

That "oxblood mix" looks interesting!

There is a lot of great stuff there. The navy mix is also amazing, and I'm sorry I didn't get a better shot of that. The close up shot I have of that color doesn't really do it full justice. Oxblood mix is a standout for sure as well. My picks for the season are the Ion cardigan in both the oxblood and the navy mix. Really spectacular colors, body, and knit pattern.

Cheers,

Fok.

iirc, that is the Memento Cardigan, and yes, it has handwarmer pockets.
