From about 1994 to 1999, Professional Clothing Writer (PCWâ„¢) G. Bruce Boyer wrote a delightful series of articles on classicly tailored clothes and accessories that ran in the tasty lung cancer magazine, Cigar Afficianado.

Youngsters and those who abstain from the weed might have missed these articles. Some of them are dated, particularly the ones referencing particular retailers or tailors, but much is still relevant today.

I hope that you find interest or at least amusement.

Cigars...

Lung cancer?

Despite your lackluster attempt at sounding intelligent, witty, and sophisticated, you're doing it wrong.

If you inhale a cigar, you're the one doing it wrong.

Vox, thank you! I fondly recall thumbing slowly thru my uncles copy of Cigar Afficianado's sometime around 1994, and seeing that bespoke shoe article. I still remember the quote about the guy offering to buy the old shoes of the guys feet for a kings ransom.

The article was well written, and it's the cornerstone of what first drew me in to what I now know as classical mens attire. I knew little and cared nothing for mens suits, being that I was 15 at the time. But nice shoes are nice shoes, regardless of the age.

I've often been tempted to try to track down the specific issue to purchase, but wasn't sure if it was available, I know a lot of them are no longer available.

Your links will provide for some savory reading.

You forgot to mention that he misspelled aficionado.

Interesting to note that even back in 1996 the big concern for SR tailors was rent increases.
