    Black captoe oxfords

Thanks, those are really nice. I invested in a pair of C&J this autumn, perhaps it is time once again. More suggestions are appreciated!

Corrected grain - tell from a photo?

Sounds like a good price if that's correct. Aniline dyed leather is supposedly the good stuff.

    Black captoe oxfords

Yeah, and brogues are absolutely an alternative.

    Black captoe oxfords

Hi, I'm looking for black captoe oxfords, preferrably on a nice sleekish last. A european look, if possible, for an international style. The catch - I don't use formal shoes very often, so I'd rather not spend more than 200 euros (that's a bit over $ 250) Any tips? Goodyear welts, not...

Corrected grain - tell from a photo?

Thanks for the reply! So corrected grain doesn't necessarily mean a nasty plastic film, even sanding or polishing counts? The only thing I'd really want to avoid is the film. I've seen how bad it can get. Shudder. Less corrected leather I think I can accept.

Corrected grain - tell from a photo?

My dears, is there any way to find out beforhand whether shoes are made from corrected grain leather or better stuff just from the looks? I tend to buy shoes on the internet, due to a geographical handicap, so it would be good to know. (I read what Andy said about Barker, a maker I kind of...

Order button-down shirts - in Europe

Interesting thought! The problem is that there are no shirt makers here in Sweden. We have tailors, of course, but that means a rediculous prices. I'm after decent quality oxford shirts. Swedish shirt brands are 120 euros or so and are sewn in Estonia. There are of course websites where you...

Order button-down shirts - in Europe

Why not find a local shirt maker. If you're willing to pay $200 plus shipping for 3 shirt you likely can find a shirt maker for not much more money. I don't think that's much less then many of the local makers here in my part of Italy charge. Plus with a local guy who will measure you no worries...

Order button-down shirts - in Europe

I need plain light blue button-down shirts, slim fit. Is there a good place to order them from in, say, the UK? People seem to like the Brooks Brothers' shirts, or at least think that tree decent quality shirts for $199 is a bargain. But that's in the US, and its a hassle to buy things from...

    Crockett & Jones quality

Sounds like you're just being nit picky. Also, did you get the right size? myke Yes, nit picky, that's me. It's probably because these are my first really good shoes. Usually I buy cheaper brands like Barker and Loake. After a day of wear the C&J look good, even if I think that they have...

    Crockett & Jones quality

Hi everybody, just got a pair of C&J Chelsea 5 from Pediwear in the mail. They fit really well, but after all I've heard about C&J's superior quality I'm not all that impressed with the overall 'feel' of them. The leather creased rather unattractively (at the toe cap!) after a 15 minute walk...

    Barker Harrison - brogued boot

Actually the waterproof lining is one thing makes me a bit unsure. Can they breathe? And does it mean that the lining isn't all leather? /anders

    Barker Harrison - brogued boot

I have a pair of Barker Justin from their BarkerFlex collection, I am impressed with the quality as well, at least for that price. I am thinking of buying the Harrison boot, hopefully it can withstand the rainy Swedish fall. They look really good.
