In regards to beaters vs nice shoes for a night out my #8 chukkas have been to hell and back including nasty men's restrooms, mud, rain, and whiskey/mixed drinks. A Dover is going to fit slightly tighter around the middle and instep. Same would go for a chukka or nassau due to the seam on the side. Lace a little looser until they are broken in.- amftx

IMO a pair of black tassels isn't far from an opera pump. It's up there with the black cap toe or plain toe bal, and one of the few and maybe only loafer with that level of formality.- amftx

I would say it's between the two, but closer to the flex. Neocork is very easy and flexible compared to double leather.- amftx

I thought the snuff suede PTB had an antique edge trim, not natural? Natural would work initially, but with nicks and wear and tear I'd want something with color. If I remember correctly there are 4 levels of antique finish, none of which are natural although the lightest may be close.- amftx

I did mean polish, since its somewhat opaque. Their edge dressing would most likely be too much if you want to maintain the natural look.- amftx
