    Brunch - New York City

well there's your problem. Nobody likes the brunch or "restaurant week" crowd, it's to their financial advantage to get you in and then out. And of course the food is so-so at restaurant week - it's the surplus salmon and skirt steak that is meant to cost the chef as little as possible in food...

    Brunch - New York City

I get the impression that's the conventional wisdom these days. People think he's overexposed and overrated. But I've never had anything but a great meal at Mesa. Maybe I've just been lucky, but I've been several times in the past year and the food has been consistently very good. It's not on...

    Brunch - New York City

I second that on the comfort food. Here are a few options: Freemans -- good spot, at least when I've gone. Mesa Grill -- Bobby Flay's place. Brunch is actually pretty affordableEssex -- never had a bad brunch there, though there's always a line Clinton Street Baking Company -- people are...

    Tap water.

The fluoride kept me cavity free all my life. Dentists around here say they get more business since the bottled water/cooler water phase but not from my generation. Ironically, I stopped getting cavities about five years ago at around the same time I moved out of a flouridated community. The...

    Tap water.

Sydney's tap water is great. They add Fluoride to it too, so we won't end up looking like something from the Big Book of British Smiles.. What makes you think consuming flouridated water is good for you? Just because toothpaste has fluoride? Are you gonna eat that too? And, what makes you think...

    Shirt/tie combo with this suit?

You guys are real comedians, huh? If you guys are really soo interested in my car, then fine. Now back to topic, and all you little spammers can go back to your 40yr old virgin lives. ;-) What model is that? The rear is like the MR2 but yours is a Honda.

Ordering First Shirt From Modern Tailor

I would stick with the shirt measurements and increase by 0.5" to 1.0" in areas where you think it's too tight. Do not use body measurements when ordering shirts.

www.tailorstore.com - anyone try ordering any of their $40 MTM shirts?

I ordered from them recently--took almost 6 weeks to get the shirts. One turned out fine, though a tad wide (despite having used measurements from a tailored shirt). The other came out with such a tiny miniature collar that I can't even wear a tie with it! I selected "business collar," which in...

Made in Italy by Chinese workers

Are all Europeans just generic 'whites' to you? Must all Europeans suffer as some sort of penance for the perceived past misdeeds of others who might share their skintone? Of course. Isn't that why they created the European Union? To assimilate every European nation as one? And continued...

Modern Tailor.com review - my experience

Do you think a close-up photo of the collar WITHOUT your tie would be too much trouble? TIA!

Modern Tailor.com review - my experience

@Lonneker, yes the collar point really does measure 8.5 cm, from the seam to the point. The fabric actually folds a few millimeters above the seam though (like all collars do). Is the back height of your collar really 4.8 cm? Do you feel that it's too tall? My tallest collar is 4 cm and I think...

Modern Tailor.com review - my experience

Here's the shirt that I got from Modern Tailor, and I'm very happy with it. The collar is a Large One-Button Cutaway. The fabric is a blue royal oxford. Do you mind posting a picture without your tie and the collar unbuttoned? Actually, how about a closeup of the collar? Is the collar point...

Modern Tailor.com review - my experience

I got the book last week. It is reasonably useful -- helped me decide on a few fabrics -- but is certainly not exhaustive. The coupons are not stackable with the more generous coupon offered on SF ($20 off) are are thus useless. If you want to buy mine off me, PM me. How many swatches does the...
