Miller and Assam the sole is flush with the edge of the shoe. Starr it extends a bit. Miller and Assam look strikingly similar but the shape is slightly different but not that you could really tell unless they're next to each other. Starr and Miller fit similar. I got them in January for just under $200. I don't think I ever saw them on the PS site. There's also a perforated sigaro version from spring/summer 2009. PS is also a bit more edgy I think, not sure if that is the right word to use. Most of their shoes are more in between casual and dressy but as GS said, the leather they use doesn't quite put them in a specific category. Cheaney actually made the first run of Paul Smith British Collections shoes. As much as I like Loake, I dont think Loake rate that high in the grand pantheon of shoemakers. It's a good shoe and well made, and their Royal Brogue is a classic, but they do use a lot of correct grain leathers...- attacus
